I've been tagged for another Versatile Blogger award. This is the third time I've had it, after both Danielle LaPaglia and Grace Motley handed it out, but now the awesome Tony Noland has bestowed it too. So here you go.
Seven More Things About Icy
1. My favourite Disney character is Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent.
2. I actually have the beginnings of a grey streak, but I will continue to dye my hair until it gets wider and I can pretend to be Rogue.
3. I began my DJ career by playing music for hen nights, corporate functions and birthday parties at a restaurant in Newcastle.
4. I have a deep-seated loathing for PowerPoint.
5. I love gunslingers, highwaymen and cavaliers but I find pirates to be uncouth.
6. I find few sounds more full of despair than the sole caw of a lonely crow on a wet afternoon.
7. If I won a considerable amount on the lottery, I really would consider the construction of an underground supervillain lair. And all my henchmen would be dressed as Abba's Benny and Bjorn.
You can read my original seven points here. Now I'm tagging Ian Collings, Rebecca Clare Smith and Lady Antimony...

Fabulous Flash Award
Tweet
Jon Strother, founding father of FridayFlash said recently:
“I have decided to start the Fabulous Flash Award to spotlight some folks I feel deserve recognition for their, well… fabulous flash fiction.”
Well I was given the award by the very lovely and super awesome Sam of Future;Nostalgic, a fellow Northerner and wonderful writer. I love reading his work, and I can't thank him enough for the recognition, but now it's my turn to hand the award on! A lot of my favourite writers have already received it, and there is so much wonderful work out there that it's difficult to choose, but I shall endeavour to do my best..
Fabulous Flash Award Rules:
- acknowledge receiving the award in a blog post
- link back to the person who awarded it
- select four other fabulous flashers to receive the award to keep spreading the joy
- write one or two short lines explaining why you’ve chosen each recipient
- optionally (I know not everyone is on Twitter) tweet, “I just gave the Fabulous Flash Award to (name). They’re worth reading.” Include a shortened URL back to your post in the tweet.
I genuinely look forward to Fridays for reading Pamila's newest piece. I love the way she paints such a vivid picture with her words, and having heard her read her work on AudioBoo, she also has the most wonderful voice for podcasting! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of her Bella Vista Motel book.
I met Adam through Write Anything's Fiction Friday, and I love reading his work. He has such a delightful imagination, and such a wicked way with words, not to mention a nifty way with characterisation. Having gotten to know him on Twitter, he's also a genuinely lovely chap.
Few people write horror, or action, as well as Carrie. This girl is also incredibly talented at writing cars, which so many people are terrible at! Her work is both creepy and accomplished, and I'm also proud to be taking part in the Chinese Whisperings project alongside her.
Tony's work is a real treat to read, whether he's writing superheroes or sci-fi, and his work is always so intelligent and well-constructed. He's also a very nice chap, and I'm more than a little in awe of his work!

Blog Awards

The very super Gracie Motley has been kind enough to give me these two awards, and it's now my duty to follow the rules and pass them on to others! Unfortunately I can't give them back to her, which is a shame as she's lovely, but I shall endeavour to do my best.
The Versatile Blogger Award rules:
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share seven things about yourself.
3. Pass the award to fifteen bloggers you think deserve it.
4. Contact each of the bloggers you chose.
Seven Things About Icy
1. Other girls like fairies or unicorns, but I have wanted a pet griffin since I was little.
2. One of the first things I remember writing was a mock newspaper article about the great flood that swept away the original Tyne Bridge. This is notable because I typed it up on a BBC computer, using the font 'Jupiter' for the headline.
3. I studied art when I was in my late teens, and one of my final projects was a giant 8ft painting of Homer posing as Michelangelo's David, albeit holding a 'Censored' sign over his family jewels.
4. I have a penchant for steel-boned corsets, and feel nostalgic for the days when people still considered good posture to be important.
5. Starting my web serial was a complete accident, kickstarted by my posting a flash fiction that prompted people to ask what happened next. Up until nineteen episodes in, I still had no idea how it would end.
6. When I get stressed or angry, I calm myself down by doing mental arithmetic. Something about numbers is very soothing to me.
7. I assign moods and colours to strange things - to me, Tuesday afternoon is an autumnal orangey-brown and feels very melancholy.
Now for the One Lovely Blog Award rules:
1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.
2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered.
3. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
There are a lot of bloggers I'd like to give them to but it seems Gracie beat me to it... So if your name isn't here but you've recently received an award from someone else, that's why I haven't named you - you don't want the same award twice, surely? To avoid claims of favouritism, they're also listed in alphabetical order.
1. Adam Byatt of A Fullness in Brevity
2. Benjamin Solah, Marxist Horror Writer
3. Brian at The New Author
4. Carrie Clevenger of Mindspeak
5. Cathy Olliffe
6. Chloe Kovac at Randomitronica
7. Eisley Jacobs
8. Emma Newman
9. Jo Finlay of Zombie Cupcake
10. Jodi Cleghorn
11. Leslie R. Lee
12. Pamila Payne at The Bella Vista Motel
13. Sam Adamson of Future; Nostalgic
14. Sophie Bowley-Aicken
15. Writer's Block NZ
