This has all the makings of a longer story.. a novel perhaps..The style is a little different for you Icy and it shows off your amazing versatility as a writer. Your realisation of the muddy world of the Thames is superb, and the undercurrent (sorry) of menace from the Uncle is really quite frightening.. loved it.. write on write on!
